Around 15% of your homes heat is lost through your doors. Choosing and correctly fitting doors with good U-values will pay for themselves over time.

In turn, around 10% of your homes heat is lost through your windows, the majority through the glass. The U-values of windows and their energy rating should be considered in addition to their quality and security.

Heat loss also occurs around windows and doors, accurate measurements for well fitted windows and simple draught proofing with caulking sealant can greatly reduce overall heat loss.

What is the Green Deal?

The Energy Bill introduced to Parliament on 8 December 2010 includes provision for the new 'Green Deal', which is intended to revolutionise the energy efficiency of British properties.

The Government is establishing a framework to enable private firms to offer consumers energy efficiency improvements to their homes, community spaces and businesses at no upfront cost, and to recoup payments through a charge in instalments on the energy bill.
